Meet Your Space Holders
Melissa Diehl is a lover of music and movement. As a trained dancer, she attended her first yoga class almost 20 years ago and immediately felt a sense of having come “home”. She completed her first 200 hr YTT in 2007 in Richmond, VA. Today, Melissa is a wife, mother, dedicated yoga practitioner and certified 500 hr RYT who has trained internationally. She is committed to personal transformation through heart-centered connection, embodied wisdom, shadow work, and devotional practices. Her current teachers and mentors include Sianna Sherman and Greta Hill of Rasa Yoga Collective and Jonathan Miles of Maha Vira Yoga. She is passionate about social justice and empowering BIPOC communities, especially in places of wellness in which they are under-represented. Melissa’s teachings combine mantra, mudra, pranayama, and devotional practices to inspire deep inner connection and the compassionate embrace of self as a means to liberation and transformation.
Yogi J Miles is a space holder, yogi, martial artist and Thai massage practitioner. He is also a Reiki and sound healer, fire keeper, seed sower, and connector who has been dancing to the rhythm of life since childhood. J began studying yoga philosophy, buddhism, and Kemetic yoga in 1999. Through his studies, he became enamored with the practices and as a martial artist and movement practitioner, this love naturally led him to take his first yoga teacher training in 2003. Over the following decade, J completed and led several additional teacher trainings leading him to create the Maha Vira Yoga Mindfulness and Leadership training in 2019 where graduates learn how to embody yoga as a healing practice of self and community liberation. His teaching style combines humor and yoga philosophy with an aim to create for each person a fluid, sustainable and enjoyable practice that proves to be beneficial over a lifetime.
