Awaken & Nourish
Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica 11.02.25 - 11.08.25
“Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment
For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind…
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”
~ Kahlil Gibran
Join J Miles, Rebekah Wood, and Chef Steve for a week of Yoga, Mindfulness, and Nourishment this fall in Playa Hermosa!
To say that Costa Rica is a magical place is an understatement. From the beach to the jungle, we have experienced beauty beyond measure, joy in abundance, inexplicable healing, and such meaningful connections in this beautiful land.
It is our deepest honor to return and share our love of this country and its people with YOU!
why this retreat is for you
Welcome to Awaken and Nourish where we’ll indulge in the energy of Pura Vida, enjoy daily asana and meditation, dine on chef-curated meals, build community, and take rest in incredible accommodations. All just steps away from the black sands and Pacific Ocean of Playa Hermosa.
Be NOURISHED - body, mind, and soul - from the moment you say YES until long after you return home.
Find rhythm with the sun and under the SUPER full moon as we move, breathe, rest, nourish, and awaken together.
The magic happens November 2-8, with meals, shuttles, adventures, and sacred ceremony included. We are taking a very small group (fewer than 20 people, including us three) in order to really be intentional in how we care for you over the course of our time together.
And be sure to catch an epic sunset, enjoy a dip in the pool, and jump off a few water falls along the way! Will you join us?

As the noise of the outside world fades, you’ll remember the truth of who you are - worthy of being seen, celebrated, and nourished on every level

Meet Your Retreat Space Holders
Yogi J Miles is a space holder, yogi, martial artist and Thai massage practitioner. He is also a Reiki and sound healer, fire keeper, seed sower, and connector who has been dancing to the rhythm of life since childhood. His teaching style has been crafted over the years by life experience, self study, and learning from many teachers along the path. His classes combine humor and yoga philosophy with an aim to create for each person a fluid, sustainable, and enjoyable practice that proves to be beneficial over a lifetime.
J's journey began in 1999 through studying yoga philosophy, buddhism, and kemetic yoga. Through his studies, he became enamored with the practices and as a martial artist and movement practitioner, this love naturally led him to take his first yoga teacher training in 2003. Over the following decade, J completed several additional teacher trainings and in 2013 was asked to lead his first yoga teacher training. In 2019, J founded Maha Vira Yoga, LLC and created the Maha Vira Yoga Mindfulness and Leadership training where graduates not only receive their Yoga Alliance approved 200 hour certificate, but more importantly learn how to embody yoga as a healing practice of self - and collective - liberation.
In his hometown of Richmond, VA, J offers weekly donation-based asana classes as well as Pranayama and mindfulness workshops and sound healing. He seeks to create positive change within and beyond his community through partnerships with other leaders and healers. In every session and interaction, clients and students are given space to breathe and to remember that they are the Healer.
Even as this ancient practice continues to evolve, the mantra remains “practice is effort toward steadiness of mind”.
Rebekah was first introduced to yoga at the age of 7 and immediately fell in love with winding her body into different shapes. Almost 3 decades later, her love of the practice led her to complete her 200-hour teacher training through Maha Vira Yoga and she continued on to complete her 300-hour training in 2020.
Over the last few years, Rebekah has completed several additional trainings through Accessible Yoga, Skill in Action, and YoKid. She has a passion for holistic wellness and sees the physical yoga practice as only one, yet oh-so-important part of the whole.
These days, Rebekah’s personal practice is more about stillness and UNwinding into presence. Her teaching style is methodical with an ever-present focus on pairing movement with breath and quieting the mind. She believes that by practicing presence on our mats, we increase our ability to be present throughout our daily lives and experience true wellness.
Outside of teaching, Rebekah is mother to the most amazing little BEing, Asar Ra-El. She also owns an interior designer and professional organization business. She loves creating spaces that encourage ease at home so that we can show up as our full selves.
