Fat and Trans Inclusive Yoga
A Practice and Discussion with Heart G (he/him)
Wednesday, April 12 :: 6:00PM - 8:00PM
Do you often find yourself unrepresented in wellness spaces?
Are you a current or aspiring Yoga teacher who wants to hold brave space for your students to show up as their full selves?
This practice and discussion will focus on centering queer, trans, fat and neurodivergent folks who usually find themselves on the outskirts. Come for the transformative practice, stay for the community.
Yoga is a liberatory practice and throughout our evening together, Heart will share healing practices for our collective liberation. His work is based in his experience working through his own childhood trauma and grief. Self care is vital for the collective good.
Workshop takes place on Zoom - link will be sent upon booking.
Heart (he/him) is a queer, fat, trans masc activist, educator and public speaker. He provides Trans 101 Trainings to the federal government, corporations and non-profits alike. He is also a certified Yoga Instructor and provides LGBTQIA+ inclusive, trauma-informed, fat positive yoga classes.
Heart’s work is intersectional - at the core of his work is the belief and knowing that none of us are free until all of us are free. He has been an organizer for over 20 years and he’s advocated for immigrants rights, language justice, sexual and reproductive health rights, racial justice, fat acceptance and queer + trans equality.
Heart’s personal journey of healing led him to where he is today and his mission is to show people you can heal. He’s disrupting gender norms and taboos and starting conversations. These old cis-items aren’t good for any of us - let’s reimagine together!
Heart is a spaceholder, a connector and a disruptor. His work has been featured in the DC Fray magazine, the Washington Blade, the Scout Guide to Asheville, the Mountain Xpress, AVL Today, and more.
Heart loves quiet mornings at home, journaling, hiking in the mountains where he lives and traveling as much as possible. He is based on unceded Cherokee land, also known as present day Asheville, North Carolina.
