J Miles, a Yogi, martial artist, body worker, retired breakdancer, community activist, and the son of a Baptist minister has been studying eastern arts and philosophy for over two decades. But movement itself, and creativity and exploration of movement through dance has been a constant source of curiosity and confidence since childhood. His love of movement led him to the physical practice of Yoga in 2002 and his first Yoga Teacher Training in 2003. After leading 6 years of Yoga Teacher Trainings and with deep gratitude to his many teachers along the path, J founded Maha Vira Yoga and offered his first solo Yoga Teacher Training in 2019. His teaching “style” has beed crafted by real life and is sprinkled with humor and reliance on the breath as a guide and source of strength. And even as this ancient practice continues to evolve, the mantra continues to be “practice is effort toward steadiness of mind”.
Melissa Diehl, a lover of music and movement, and a trained dancer, attended her first yoga class almost 20 years ago and immediately felt a sense of having come “home”. Her desire to dive deeper led her to complete her first Yoga Teacher Training in 2007. Today, Melissa is a wife, mother, and dedicated Yoga practitioner and certified 500hr RYT who has trained internationally. She is committed to personal transformation through heart-centered connection, embodied wisdom, shadow work and devotional practices. She is passionate about social justice and empowering BIPOC communities, especially in places of wellness in which they are under-represented. Melissa’s teachings combine mantra, mudra, pranayama, and devotional practices to inspire deep inner connection and the compassionate embrace of self as a means to liberation and transformation.
Rebekah Wood fell in love with Yoga at just 7 years old when her favorite uncle taught her how to stand on her head. Several decades later, she began to develop a dedicated practice and completed her first Yoga Teacher Training which finally gave her the language to understand that feeling from her childhood which was much more than enjoying being upside down. Rebekah is also a mother and interior designer and has a passion for creating order (and yes, even spreadsheets). As your logistical and emotional support, she is here to answer any questions you may have and give a hug or lend an ear whenever needed.
