For teachers who are ready to go deeper—not simply to learn more poses, but to become more thoughtful, skilful, grounded, and engaged teachers of yoga.
What makes this program unique?
This 300-hour advanced teacher training brings together classical yoga study and contemporary teaching practices—asking what it means to carry yoga into our communities and our lives.
Where does this program take place?
Over the course of 9 months, we will build connection through weekly online sessions and 9 in-person weekends in Richmond, VA. This training is designed to solidify your regular practice and to be accessible for all.

• Ayurveda
• Pranayama

• the history of Yoga and its relationship to colonization, immigration, social justice, and contemporary culture
What else can I expect to learn?
Through regular guided practice and opportunities to refine your own voice as a teacher, you’ll deepen practical skills in:
• inclusive cueing
• hands-on assisting
• sequencing and simple theming
• community building
• authentic teaching
But this training goes beyond the studio setting. J and Anjali both have extensive experience teaching in a variety of settings from ashrams, hospitals, prisons, schools, food forests, and community centers. Our teaching styles offer considerations for how the practice of yoga can shape not only how we teach in various environments, but how we show up in the world and serve our community.

Anjali Sunita is a E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, certified Ayurvedic practitioner, Thai Bodywork Practitioner, and educator whose work explores yoga as a living practice—one that extends beyond technique into how we understand ourselves, relate to others, and participate in the world.
With decades of study and teaching across yoga, Ayurveda, Sanskrit, breathwork, meditation, and North Indian classical music, Anjali brings together rigorous engagement with traditional knowledge and a willingness to ask difficult contemporary questions about how these traditions are taught, transmitted, and practiced today. Her teaching is rooted in the understanding that yoga is more than a collection of physical practices.
She invites students to engage with its philosophical and historical foundations while examining questions of culture, power, ethics, and responsibility. Her approach to Ayurveda similarly emphasizes attentiveness: learning to observe the body, mind, environment, and patterns of daily life as part of an ongoing practice of self-knowledge.
Anjali is the founder of Village Life Wellness, formerly Baltimore Yoga Village and has trained teachers at the 200 and 300 hour levels. She is particularly interested in creating learning spaces that are intellectually alive where students can question, experiment, develop their own voices, and become more thoughtful teachers.
In the 300-Hour Yoga as a Living Practice training, Anjali teaches across yoga philosophy and history, Sanskrit, Ayurveda, asana, pranayama and meditation, and supports students through teaching practice, mentorship, and integration to develop teaching styles which focus on grounded tradition and ease of transmission and accessibility.
Yogi J Miles is a space holder, yogi, martial artist and Thai massage practitioner. He is also a Reiki and sound healer, fire keeper, seed sower, and connector who has been dancing to the rhythm of life since childhood. His teaching style has been crafted over the years by life experience, self study, and learning from many teachers on the path. His classes combine humor and yoga philosophy with an aim to create for each person a fluid, sustainable and enjoyable practice that proves to be beneficial over a lifetime.
His journey began in 1999 by studying yoga philosophy, buddhism, and Kemetic yoga. Through his studies, he became enamored with the practices and as a martial artist and movement practitioner, this love naturally led him to take his first yoga teacher training in 2003. Over the following decade, J completed several additional teacher trainings and in 2013 was asked to lead his first yoga teacher training. In 2019, J founded Maha Vira Yoga, LLC and created the Maha Vira Yoga Mindfulness and Leadership training where graduates not only receive their Yoga Alliance approved teaching certification, but more importantly learn how to embody yoga as a healing practice of self and community liberation.
J offers weekly donation-based asana classes in his hometown of Richmond, VA and seeks to create positive and sustainable change through partnerships with other leaders in the wellness community. In every session and interaction, clients and students are given space to breathe and to remember that they are the Healer.
“It is through our suffering that we are bound together, and the same goes for our liberation.”
